PREPARING IN ADVANCE
P

MEDICAL INSURANCE

Every student at Parole de Vie must have medical insurance. Students coming from outside Quebec must check if the medical insurance of their province or country is valid during their studies in Quebec. Otherwise, they must subscribe to an insurance company that will cover them in Quebec. For those who need a medical insurance policy, we can provide them with the necessary documents upon request. Premiums for a 12-month period are approximately CDN $ 800.

PASSPORT

During the year, we sometimes travel outside the country. Among other things, this can happen on mission trips. Also, we plan to visit the campus of our sister school in Schroon Lake, New York, or make other trips near the border. Since these trips are outside of Canada, we ask each student to have a valid passport for the duration of their school year.

TOTAL COST FOR A STUDENT DOING THE 2 SESSIONS

(fall 2023 and winter 2024)

$ 12 746

Explanation of Cost

The fee for the year is divided into two parts corresponding to the two sessions of the school (fall and spring). The amounts for the two sessions are not equal.

There are no accommodation or meals costs for the five weeks of practical training in the summer.

A fee of $400 for books and photocopies of course notes is included in the fee for the year. This amount will be distributed through both sessions, and will be invoiced and payable at the beginning of each session.

* IMPORTANT: Without the support of many brothers and sisters with Francophone youth, the price of one year in Bible school would easily be 25% to 30% more. That’s why we want every student to take his or her studies seriously into our program. To do otherwise would waste not only its investment but also the investment of a large number of dedicated people.

The costs associated with the intercultural course will be determined each year according to the actual costs of the trip in which the student will participate. Each student is responsible for finding the missionary support needed for the trip.

In order to keep the accommodation costs to a minimum, each student staying in the dormitory is asked to do about five hours per week of various work on the campus.

Scholarships

Each year, Parole de Vie receives donations from Christians who wish to encourage the Francophone youth of Quebec to pursue a year of Bible study. Since we do not know from year to year what we are going to receive, we can not guarantee any specific amount, but we try to meet needs as far as possible.

In order to properly manage the funds entrusted to us, students with financial needs will be able to complete a scholarship application starting in October. In addition to the applicant’s financial situation, several factors will be considered in the selection of those who will receive a scholarship. To be eligible, the student must meet the following conditions:

  • Demonstrate a healthy attitude and positive influence in the school’s community life.
  • Demonstrate a spiritual concern and take his or her Bible studies seriously.
  • Meet all the requirements to obtain the diploma including the practical summer placement.
  • Have completed the payment of the first two sessions.

The amount of the scholarship will never exceed the total cost of the second session. Students who have applied will be notified of the result in early July.

PAYMENT POLICY

Fees are payable at the beginning of each session (September and January). Payments can be made by cheque in the name of “Word of Life”. We also accept debit card and cash and payment by email.

As a missionary organization, Word of Life does not have the financial means to act as a bank by accepting students on credit and charging them interest. For example, in the case of a student who fails to pay his or her bill before the end of the session, Parole de Vie reserves the right not to re-admit him for the next session.
